7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (Apr 16)
1. Shake, Shake, Shake
You know what? I'm just going to go with the whole Shakeup as the worst thing this week. Feel free to disagree!
For starters, Kurt Angle has some explaining to do! What was going through his mind when he decided to give up Jinder Mahal in return for Curt Hawkins? Why did either side spend their free time negotiating that deal? What was the rationale for letting Kevin Owens go before he got his Universal Title rematch? How many Apollo Crews would equal one Roman Reigns? 37?
I wanted to enjoy the shakeup, but it felt like it was 90% nonsense. Part of that problem is I just can’t get into wrestlers jumping shows, and then we’re suddenly supposed to take them seriously, just because. When The Shining Stars showed up on SmackDown, the announcers shouldn’t have been like “WOW WHAT AN IMPACT!” They should have gone “Oh s**t. The Shining Stars? Those guys who have been selling timeshares and haven't won a match in two years? Why the hell are they here? Couldn't we have got The Golden Truth?”
We also had no idea what the shakeup would entail because WWE was either too lazy to explain it, or thinks we’re too stupid to comprehend how it would work. We’ve been told in the past that wrestlers can be traded (the whole Sami Zayn for Eva Marie thing), but did Vince McMahon just force the GMs to trade 10 people? If so, why? And if so, are they competing for ratings, or what? What was the meaning from a kayfabe perspective behind any of the moves?
Fans aren't asking for much here, but the bare minimum of work would have gone a long way. Also, is there still time to trade one JBL for a Mauro?
Time to kick out.
