7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (June 18)
5. Bayley's Bad Touch
Kurt Angle was trying to be a good GM when he told Bayley she could skip Extreme Rules because she wasn't EXTREEEEEEEEME (despite all the Tommy Dreamer matches she watched on the Network). She said she wasn’t going to do that. Oh. Well, then at the show, she realized she couldn’t hurt another human being too badly and lost.
On Raw this week, she told the audience she’s more concerned with putting smiles on people’s faces than hurting people...even though her job is to be a professional fighter. Imagine a baseball player saying "I'm more concerned about putting smiles on people's faces than hitting a baseball!" This is the paradox of Bayley, a woman who just turned 28 and dresses like she's 8.
Much like Sami Zayn, Bayley has been making this space far too often lately. She's talented and appeals to a younger demographic the company often doesn't try to cater to. She's also probably done. Not "done" in the sense that she'll be released or anything but done in the sense that she's been so badly damaged her potential of main-eventing pay-per-views is likely over (keep in mind though we're in the Mahal Era where making any kind of bold claim is a fool's errand). Having her hug Corey Graves as if she was Kesha and he was Jerry Seinfeld kind of sealed her fate even more.
Perhaps the strangest part of her segment was Graves saying he needed a cigarette after an unwarranted hug. A sex joke in a Bayley segment? It feels so creepy and wrong.
