7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (June 4)
3. Eric Cartman
Calling Kevin Owens “Eric Cartman” again on TV is so much of what I hate about WWE. For starters, it’s an incredibly forced pop culture reference. Second of all, it’s not a clever line in the slightest. Third, it’s a “thing” they’re trying to get to catch on so they bring it up two weeks in a row (remember "Wildcat" Kofi Kingston?). And FOURTH, the only reason they’re saying it is...because they think Kevin Owens is overweight?
What the hell else could be the connection? The characters aren’t from the same country and they sure as hell don’t sound alike. As far as I know, Owens has never fought crime as The Coon. Gotta be the weight.
It’s just so stupid. Grown men shouldn’t be using cartoon characters as digs at their opponents (or saying "butthead" either, of course). Yes, South Park is still a popular show, but it’s not the cultural phenomenon it was in the late ‘90s...you know, when WWE built an entire character (Golga) off of loving Cartman? It’s so weird and forced that it makes the wrestlers saying the line look far dumber than Owens. They’re a bunch of Snagglepusses, they are.
I guess the message to Owens is that he needs to get on the same diet as his 71-year-old boss.
