7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (March 19)
6. Super Shane Flies Again
Daniel Bryan is getting played. He's written to look like the bad cop who is taking away our fun matches all at the expense of getting Shane McMahon over.
Yes, Shane McMahon, a God among men, can’t be stopped from appearing in front of a live audience even after his freaking head was shoved through the window of a car! The announcers kept putting over his refusal of medical treatment on SmackDown, because he’s TOO EXTREME!
Does Shane understand he’s not his character? Dustin Runnels seems to understand he isn't Goldust. It should be okay for Shane's TV persona to get hurt, because he’s playing a role, and because him being out of action makes the angle mean more. But if he can shrug off something that should have put him in the hospital, then there’s not much heat on A.J. Actually, the only heat in the angle goes to Bryan, because he looks like an overly-concerned wuss for firing a fan favorite.
Unfortunately, a few more wrestlers were damaged as well. The main event of SmackDown should have been pretty cool. American Alpha are arguably the best team in the company, and The Usos cut a killer promo a few weeks ago on SmackDown. Remember that? WWE doesn’t, because there was no follow-up to it. They had their match, no one in the crowd cared and the repeated shots of Shane courageously walking to the ring reduced the two teams to boxes in the corner of the screen. The message is: they don’t matter.
Basically, this made two shows this week where McMahon nonsense was more important than absolutely everything else going on.
