7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (May 28)

Finn Balor Paul Heyman

Much like the Mickie James entry here, this is another example of something that should have been cool in theory but felt like every other underwhelming segment on Raw.

WWE has stated that Karl Anderson and Finn Balor have history together. After all, Luke Gallows, A.J. Styles and Anderon once tried to recruit Balor to The Club while dressed up as doctors with fake testicles in front of them. Somehow that sales pitch failed. Going above and beyond and giving us any sort of extra storyline hook wasn’t in the cards this week, and so, the two wrestled a forgettable match on Raw.

This is two members of The Bullet Club facing off and no effort being put into why it’s happening (especially since Anderson is a tag wrestler) or what a victory means. If Anderson wins, then what? Does he enter the title match? Without any story, it made Balor continue to not look that special because it took him seven minutes to win. This was the guy that Paul Heyman had just talked up as something truly special, and then he went on to struggle to put away a guy that has one exactly one singles match ever in WWE (poor Sheamus).

Without any effort being put into it, the match simply didn't need to booked.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
