7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (May 7)

6. Mahal > Zayn

Watching Jinder Mahal's recent mega-push continues to confuse the wrestling world, it also shows how amazingly out of touch Vince McMahon continues to be.

This week on SmackDown, Sami Zayn had to put over Mahal, a man that he had beat cleanly on Raw on Apr. 3 in 2:05. That was an absolute squash. Either Mahal became amazing in one month, or Zayn's increasing neuroticism is finally getting the best of him.

All right, let's compare the two for a moment to see why this is the wrong call:

-Better wrestler: Zayn

-Better talker: Zayn

-More charismatic: Zayn

-Larger stomach veins: Mahal

This is a 3-1 win in Zayn's favor, but veins are worth a lot in Vince's mind, so Sami was asked to do the favors on SmackDown. Had WWE been more protective of him, he could have easily been in the place of Mahal. Sure, it'd be babyface vs. babyface, but no one really likes Randy Orton anymore, because he hasn't been interesting in about 10 years.

You could say it's not Sami's time yet, but then, the longer they wait to actually get around to investing in him, the harder it's going to be for people to take him seriously. Just ask Dolph Ziggler.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
