7 Worst WWE Drafts In History
2. 2011 WWE Draft
It seems the following year, WWE learned a bit from the 2010 variation mentioned before. Through the first seven picks (aside from maybe Sin Cara), the order of the names all made sense despite being 'generated' by the Titantron.
John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Sin Cara, Big Show, Alberto Del Rio all ended up switching brands. Pretty good, with some bigger stars getting new homes than in recent years. And it was a big win for SmackDown to be getting big match John, until they didn't. Once again a surprise for the sake of surprise alone, John Cena was redrafted back to Raw to conclude the televised portion.
Why did WWE bother to do this? It was an outright waste of time and erased any of the impact his name had on this edition of the draft. To quote Chris Jericho: "it was a stupid idea from bad creative."
And that is a shame considering the rest of the draft that was non-televised wasn't too bad. Nothing too spectacular beyond maybe Daniel Bryan going to SmackDown for the first time, but still not worthy of being considered one of the worst drafts.
But it will forever be remembered for that one terrible decision. Oh and don't forget the equally bad decision to almost immediately discard the whole thing just over four months later, further proving it to be a waste of everyone's time.
Hmm, that sounds awful familiar, doesn't it?
