7 Worst WWE Turns Of 2017

3. Goldust

Old-school wrestling fans were likely the only ones who appreciated WWE pressing the soft reset button on Goldust and returning the character to his Hollywood roots earlier this year. Meanwhile, younger fans must have been wondering why they were being encouraged to boo a guy who had been dancing like a fool with R-Truth just weeks earlier.

Beating up Truth and turning his back on the 'Golden Truth' tag team didn't really work for Goldust. There was no payoff to the angle, other than an interminable run of pre-taped promos, during which the face-painted weirdo repeated the same things over and over again. Worse, WWE have occasionally used Goldust as a babyface on house shows and ignored his turn.

At the special Starrcade live event, Goldust also shed his usual outfit in favour of becoming the 'Natural' Dustin Rhodes again. There's no consistency here. It's almost like WWE are saying, 'boo him for beating up Truth, but cheer him again when Truth is off TV or when we have a babyface spot to fill'.
