7 Worst WWE Turns Of 2017
2. Big Cass
Uniqueness is important in pro wrestling.
If that seems like an obvious statement, then consider how badly WWE botched Big Cass becoming a monster heel in 2017. When Raw's writers wanted Cass to squash Enzo Amore and become an immediate threat as a big man, they failed to realise that Braun Strowman was already in that spot.
Sure, Braun was well on the way to becoming a fan favourite by that point, but the lazy nature of Cass turning on Enzo was there for all to see. Lifeless promos? Check. Ridding himself of a gimmick that had connected with fans? Check. Wearing dull black trunks? Check. Generic entrance music? Check. It's like the writers wanted the turn to fail.
Using the Big Show as foil for Cass seemed logical, and yet matches between the pair lacked the intensity Strowman's did against the veteran giant. Even before he went down with a torn ACL in August, Cass was struggling to convince anyone he deserved to be booed, let alone taken seriously as a potential future headliner.
