7 Wrestlers You Didn't Know Did MMA

1. Jushin "Thunder" Liger

Liger Mma Competing in MMA while wearing a mask is a really, really bad idea. Competing against a much better fighter and attempting a somersault kick within the first 30 seconds? Well, that's just asking for it. That's what Japanese legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger did in 2002 on his 38th birthday. Already solidified as a hero in Japan, Liger took on MMA veteran Minoru Suzuki in his 49th and final recorded MMA bout. The result was not a favorable one for Liger. After catching air on his ill-advised somersault kick, Suzuki took side control, then pound, and beat Liger from pillar to post, before choking "Thunder" out in under two minutes. All while Liger wore his signature mask. The Pancrase event would be the last time Liger would ever compete in MMA.
