7 Wrestlers Whose Last WWE Match Was The Royal Rumble

Some people believe that CM Punk will return to WWE at some point in the future, and whilst 'never say never' is most definitely a valid axiom in pro wrestling, this may be the exception that proves the rule. If CM Punk never performs inside a WWE ring again, nobody will be surprised.

The Straight Edge Superstar walked out on the company the night after the 2014 Royal Rumble, a match that saw him enter at number one and last almost 50 minutes before being eliminated by the already eliminated Kane. Punk was removed from all future live events three days after the event, and it became increasingly clear that he was done.

The Rumble match proved a frustrating yet apt way for Punk to go out. A concussion rendered him somewhat useless for the majority of the match, and he was eventually eliminated by those in charge moving the goalposts. Punk's fight was always going to be an impossible one, and his final WWE match proved this further.

Still, if the buzzer hits and 'Cult of Personality' plays in San Antonio this month, a bigger pop will not be heard in WWE all year.
