7 Wrestlers WWE Released Who Deserve Another Run
3. Wade Barrett
Wade Barrett is the nearly-man of the WWE. In his early run as the leader of The Nexus, he challenged three times for the championship, and lost each of them. This massive push at the start of his career seemed to indicate he was destined for title glory one day, but alas, he wasn't.
Despite five runs as Intercontinental champion, and a King of the Ring victory too, Barrett never regained his main event level high of his Nexus days. And although Barrett never had a run as a face in the WWE either, his excellent Bad News Barrett gimmick almost got him over with the fans - until creative disappointingly pulled the plug on it, that is.
All of this adds up to Barrett having unfinished business in a WWE ring. He took a break from wrestling altogether when he left in 2015 to pursue an acting career, but he's always insisted he'd return to the ring when the time was right. Such comments, coupled with his relationship with the company remaining amicable, means a comeback for the Preston fighter is highly possible in the near future. And when it happens, we can't wait for Barrett to announce the good news.
