7 WWE Feuds That Killed Careers

1. CM Punk Vs. The Rock (2013)

This could be a controversial one.

CM Punk was on top of the world as WWE Champion in early-2013, and it must have seriously disheartened him to learn that The Rock would be swooping in from Hollywood, beating him for that title and stealing his spot at WrestleMania against John Cena.

To Punk, that 'Mania headline position was everything he'd ever wanted and represented the Holy Grail in WWE. He'd never get it, and the seeds for discontent that'd culminate in his leaving shortly after 2014's Royal Rumble were sown at the same event 12 months prior.

Had WWE lived up to their own "Once In A Lifetime" branding and booked Punk vs. Cena at 'Mania 29 instead of that Cena vs. Rock rematch, who knows how differently things might have turned out. It was that decision which irked Punk to the point of leaving in 2014.

Once he learned that his proposed 'Mania XXX feud with Triple H would also exist on the mid-card, Punk walked out on WWE and never looked back.
