In a 2016 interview with Muscle & Fitness, Vince admitted that he was quite the young tearaway as a teenager and would often land himself in trouble. Check this out for a quote from the magazine:

"I stole automobiles, but I always brought them back. I just borrowed them, really. There were other thefts too, and I ran a load of moonshine in Harlowe, North Carolina in a 1952 Ford V8. That was a bad ass car at the time"

When he wasn't acting like the protagonist in GTA: North Carolina, Vince admitted he and pals would resort to violence because they didn't fit in with other kids. Who does that sound like? Why, it sounds like the character his son Shane played during the Attitude era. Shane-O was a trouble-seeking lad who portrayed himself as a street fighter and surrounded himself with friends 'cause he didn't fit in with "other kids" (in this case, pro wrestlers).

The so-called 'Boy Wonder' bragged about his exploits as a slugger, and constantly veered into the path of danger. That, according to Vince's comments, was almost exactly what he did as a youngster. He was the gimmick his own flesh and blood would go on to play.
