This is the most famous example of McMahon fantasy becoming reality.

It's long been said that Ted DiBiase's 'Million Dollar Man' was the character Vince would've played had he been a full-time pro wrestler. Indeed, he wouldn't tell Teddy about the gimmick until he signed a WWF contract. That's how close to the vest such million dollar megalomania was to the boss.

On a flight one day, Bruce Prichard (who must've seen it all by this point) watched in awe as Vince offered a chap behind him $500 in hard cash to put his cigarette out. Then, as if that wasn't enough, McMahon turned to Bruce and said, "Still wondering where the Million Dollar Man comes from, huh?" He was the character in living flesh and blood.

Vince was proving that money could buy anything, and that it will always hold an immense power to make people do as they're told. That lust for dominion became DiBiase's trump card. It was a characteristic that defined his run, and it was an extension of McMahon's eventual personality when he hit it big.
