7 WWE Main Events You Won't Believe Didn't Close A PPV

6. Royal Rumble 2015

The Match That Closed The Show: Royal Rumble Match. There is almost never an instance where its acceptable to put on anything last other than the Royal Rumble match itself. This however was one of those exceptions. The only reason where it isn't a mistake to put something other than the rumble match on last, is when there is absolutely no mystery over who is going to win it. The 2013 Royal Rumble is a perfect example of this. One of the worst rumble matches in recent history. Not simply because of the action and lack of stars involved in the match, but because there was NO ONE, other than John Cena who had the slightest chance to win. And as much as people wanted to believe that Daniel Bryan might win the Royal Rumble this year, deep down we all knew what the outcome was going to be. But had the order of the matches been changed, this could have prevented the show from being viewed as a failure.
The Match That Should Have Closed The Show: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins, WWE Championship. It isn't often that a title match is promoted more than the rumble itself, but that's exactly what it feels like after watching Raw the last few months. And that wasn't the wrong choice. The triple threat match for the WWE Championship was one of the best PPV matches in recent history. And even to a decent Royal Rumble match this would have stood toe to toe with. So it easily overshadowed the disappointment this year's installment was. Had they just reversed the order of the matches and given the crowd a little time to cool itself off. The dominance of Lesnar and the performance of Rollins would have been enough to end the show on a positive note and not with the chorus of boos you can still hear now.
