7 WWE Money In The Bank Winners That Flopped

There have been 14 Money in the Bank ladder matches in WWE since the first one took place at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. It's a match concept that was created by Chris Jericho and over the last decade it has become a favorite match of WWE fans because of the excitement that surrounds it. The first six Money in the Bank ladder matches took place at WrestleMania (WM21 to WM26) and then in 2010 it became its own PPV event with two ladder matches taking place. This year it's back to just one ladder match because WWE only has one World Heavyweight Champion now. When somebody cashes in a Money in the Bank contract on a champion, it usually means a lot to that person because 12 of the 14 cash-ins have led to a title change. It hasn't always meant success, though. Sometimes a person wins the briefcase, then for whatever reason management loses faith in them or that wrestler simply can't perform at the high level that was expected of them. It's easy to look at the guys that benefited from a MITB win because that's what has happened for most of them. However, what about the ones that didn't really become a bigger deal after winning the coveted briefcase? Here are seven examples of when the Money in the Bank winner flopped while they were holding the briefcase or soon after they cashed it in.
