Jack Swagger's Money in the Bank briefcase win at WrestleMania 26 was a surprise to most of us. It was the last MITB at a WM before they turned MITB into its own PPV show. Going into the match, Swagger wasn't really pushed as a guy that was going to get moved into a main event like spot yet they had him win MITB. He didn't hold the briefcase for very long. Two days later at the Smackdown taping they did an angle where World Champion Chris Jericho was attacked by Edge and Swagger was there to capitalize on that. I can remember reading the spoilers at the time and the only reaction to it was a total surprise. The World Title reign of Swagger lasted a little under three months. It was so unimpressive because WWE booked him in such a way that it never appeared as though he was elevated for holding the title and he lost a number of non-title matches as well. Fans just didn't buy into Swagger as a World Champion. It started with his Money in the Bank win when his victory was considered a surprise and there was a lack of faith shown in him by management when he held the gold. Using the Money in the Bank briefcase to elevate a talent is the idea, but if WWE really doesn't believe in the guy then nobody is going to succeed after winning it.
