7 WWE NXT Rivalries For Samoa Joe

1. Sami Zayn

The reason Zayn is in the top spot is because he's the best worker on the NXT brand that is arguably the best in all of WWE. The man has great matches with anybody and is the perfect prototype of what you want out of a babyface. He's easy to like, sells his opponent's offense very well and the fans absolutely love it. Whether that means he becomes a WWE main event player is another story, but at least for NXT right now he's the best there is. Zayn was known as El Generico before WWE and while his path may have crossed with Joe a few times about a decade ago, there really aren't matches that stand out between them. It's similar to the Owens situation since Zayn grew up in the business with Owens. When they were coming up, Joe was in TNA. This would be the easiest story of them all to tell because if Joe was brought in as a heel he could be the perfect rival for Zayn. The only problem with it is that it could be similar to the current Owens/Zayn story. They could actually work Joe into the story by having him confront Owens for Zayn, which could lead to Joe coming in as a face too. What's great about both Joe and Sami is they can really function working any style. That's what happens when you wrestle all over the world against quality opponents. You learn to adapt, figure out what works and are able to put together iconic matches. Whether Joe comes in as a heel or he has a face vs. face type of respect rivalry, Sami Zayn could be the perfect opponent for him in WWE. Let's hope it happens soon.
