It's another match that some might consider a dream match although it has happened before. It's been a while, though. They have some history going back about a decade when Owens was using his real name Kevin Steen. He was definitely skinnier back then, but you could tell he had a lot of talent too. They both started wrestling around 15 years ago although Joe became a bigger name faster. While Joe became one of ROH's biggest stars from the moment the promotion started in 2002, Steen was one of their biggest names in recent years. As mentioned, their paths have crossed although not when they were both elite level talents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9foz1s6yfLk Joe and Owens have a similar body type. Neither guy is ever going to really have a six pack of abs to show off. Owens wrestles in a shirt while WWE may make Joe wrestle in a shirt too. That's just how some people are. This would be an easy story to tell. Owens is the NXT Champion. He's an old school badass heel that gets in people's faces telling them he's going to kick their ass and then he does. It works for him. An angle for them could be something where Owens is in the ring doing a promo about how nobody in NXT is going to stop him or beat him for the NXT Title. All of a sudden, Joe debuts. Imagine that moment. The Full Sail Arena would go wild because they are smart fans that know the business. Joe would be loved immediately. Seeing Joe square off with Owens would be so much fun. It would also show fans that you don't have to have "sick abs" to be some huge star. Different styles for different body types work too.
