The very first NXT Special Event, which also happened to be the very first live event broadcast on the WWE Network, saw the young upstart Adrian Neville topple Bo Dallas’ 260-day reign as NXT Champion, to become the face of the next generation of WWE Superstars for what would be the brand’s defining year.

This show really put NXT on the map, not only highlighting the level of talent on display down at Full Sail University, but that if treated like its own promotion entirely, it could be just as popular as Raw and SmackDown.

While the show featured several matches, some of the most entertaining being Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn and Emma vs. Paige for the NXT Women’s Championship, the main event would be the start of Neville’s run as the top man in the brand until the very end of 2014.

Bo Dallas may not be much to write home about due to his role on the main roster nowadays, but at this time he was doing great work as the top heel on NXT. His cockiness and overconfidence in himself at the time made it oh so much more special when ‘The New Sensation’, now known simply as Neville, would take the championship in a hard-hitting ladder match that did well to show off his high-flying ability.
