At first glance, the story of this match was about Adrian Neville and his efforts to prove that he’s not just the top dog when it comes to NXT Superstars, but he can also go toe-to-toe with somebody like Tyson Kidd, an incredibly talented athlete who trained in the legendary Hart dungeon, and despite not making much of an impact on the main roster at this point, was still considered a respected veteran.

This match, however, was of pivotal importance for Tyson, who was in the process of getting his WWE career back on the right track after falling into obscurity for an extended period of time, due to injury and poor booking. Prior to this match, he’d even stated that while he was fighting for Adrian’s title, he still had everything to lose in this one.

The match itself featured some extraordinary wrestling, showcasing the abilities of both Kidd and Neville very nicely, and only contributed to NXT being well-renowned for having the best wrestling matches that WWE had to offer.

The two men wrestled as if they were mirror images of each other, and while Neville came out victorious and continued his impressive run as champion, the match definitely did Tyson Kidd favours towards his revival, and eventual return to the main roster.
