7 WWE Raw Returns That Happened Last Night

4. Samoa Joe

If WWE had it their way, fans probably wouldn't be allowed to so much as go to the toilet during a live show. It's the exact rule they impose upon the commentary team for three-plus hours every Monday anyway. So desperate as they are to maintain control of an audience they systematically alienate more and more with each passing year, the scripting is almost entirely in contrast to the emotions and heartstrings of their loyalest customers.

Such was the case as Samoa Joe made his storming return to television following Nia Jax' unnecessary destruction of Bayley. Literally marching to the beat of his own drum, Joe was cool as ice to the carnage around him, stopping only to brush off the cheers of support with a hamfisted diatribe against the fans destined to fall on increasing numbers of deaf ears.

It's staggering how out of touch the company have become with their fanbase. Cheered both because he was missed, and because he kicks a*se, Joe's disdain was forced and unwelcome to his supporters. But that's what WWE wants, so that's what Samoa Joe gets.
