7 WWE Women's Feuds That Should Have Been Better
4. Bayley Vs. Asuka
Although die-hard NXT fans might disagree, Bayley vs. Asuka fell flat considering the potential. Bayley was hot out of a legacy-setting rivalry with Sasha Banks for the NXT Women’s Championship. Asuka was the unbeatable and unsettling force of nature. The match at NXT Dallas between the two superstars should have been a showcase of talent, but the match itself was just... okay. Perhaps it was too hard to follow Bayley vs Sasha after all.
The Huggable One and the Empress of Tomorrow lacked the intensity of Bayley vs. the Boss. Neither superstar’s mic skills are their strongest suit and the physical interactions lacked the desperation that should have been there. Asuka had been built up exceptionally as an unbeatable monster. Bayley was NXT's sweetheart, the resident babyface who the fans adored. A heel turn from Asuka would have made it easier for the fans to get behind the match, conforming to the typical babyface vs. monster heel roles. Instead it was hard to know who to root for.
Considering the support NXT has given to it's female workers, this rivalry had unbelievable amounts of potential. However, maybe it was too difficult to live up to expectations after all.
