7 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Slighted The Main Event Of WrestleMania
1. CM Punk (WrestleManias XXVII, XXVIII, 29)
CM Punk has made it quite clear in the years since he left WWE that main eventing WrestleMania would have meant the world to him, and because he was never able to, he has at times considered himself a failure.
It's not like he never came close, either. Punk didn't do much in WWE from 2010 to 2011, yet he still managed to generate great heat from crowds leading into WrestleMania XXVII. His feud with John Cena would have been best saved for WrestleMania as opposed to being rushed in the weeks preceding the pay-per-view.
Of course, The Summer of Punk happened and it was virtually guaranteed that he'd headline WrestleMania XXVIII the following year. That was, however, until Cena and The Rock made their match official for the event, eliminating any chance of Punk going on last on that card.
Those two instances were almost excusable, but there was no reason for him to be deprived of the 'Mania main event slot in 2013 after reigning as WWE champ for over a year. Rock and Cena facing off in a rematch was unnecessary, so adding Punk to the mix would have made matters more interesting.
Alas, WWE resorted to putting Punk up against The Undertaker in what turned out to be the Chicago native's final WrestleMania. Who knows if he would have stuck around longer had he been given what he wanted (and deserved)?
