Maybe it's because so many people were looking for them, but AEW has done a phenomenal job of serving up so many allusions to the iconic Four Horsemen faction.

Every time a certain wrestler dropped their thumb back or slightly arched their four fingers, some were quick to jump on this as meaning said grappler was set to become a member of a Horsemen-esque new faction.

Finally, the stable we'd all hoped for is here, with MJF having recently formed his own heel group consisting of Wardlow, FTR, Shawn Spears and original Horseman, Tully Blanchard. As of this writing, this faction has yet to be given a name, but they're already being talked up as the modern-day take on the Four Horsemen stable that first reared its collective head in 1985.

One such person who has teased just such a Horsemen-lite group, is the aforementioned Maxwell Jacob Friedman. To pinpoint his State of the Industry Address on the 29 July 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite, there Max lambasted how the old guard had ruined the planet. As he put it, "War, famine, disease. Our Earth is dying and so are our morals".

What were the signs of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, again? Oh yes, they're war, famine, pestilence (disease) and death. If intended, MJF has long given us a tease of a changing of the guard, with the Four Horsemen very much in mind.
