8 Amazing Wrestlers That Flopped In WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era

5. Gail Kim

It’s worth remembering that WWE’s women’s division was in a very different place during the 'Ruthless Aggression' era compared to where it is today. The prospect of a totally new talent turning up on Monday Night Raw and winning the Women’s Title on her first night is virtually unfathomable in 2026, no matter how talented they may be. However, that is exactly what Gail Kim achieved when she won a women’s Battle Royal to claim the Women’s belts on the 30 June 2003 episode of the flagship.

This next statement shouldn’t downplay Kim’s talents whatsoever; as she’s proven wherever she has performed, Gail is a total badass, but this period in WWE’s history was largely about Trish Stratus and Lita. All roads usually led to or went through them. As such, Kim only ever felt like one of the other many talents propping up the division due to WWE’s formulaic and stale booking.

The 4-week reign she enjoyed with the title after her debut is the only run she ever had with that strap, this despite having 2 runs in the company. She returned to WWE between 2008-2011 after initially being released in November 2004. By contrast, the Canadian legend is a 7-time TNA Knockouts Champion and arguably the greatest female performer in that company's history.

What could've been, eh?
