8. Gimmicks And Characters

Naked Mideon Every wrestler had a gimmick or character. No matter how ridiculous or terrible in hindsight, one of the best things about the Attitude Era was that every single member of the roster had a clearly defined character. Even some of the Attitude Era€™s worst performers are immediately recognizable, simply because of their gimmick. Do you remember Mideon (and his later days as a nudist)? Of course you do. Or how about Kai En Tai and their crusade to €œchoppy choppy€ Val Venis€™ uh € €œmember?€ Simply, unforgettable. While we may now look back and laugh at the absurdity of some of the gimmicks from that time period, those same ridiculous gimmicks allow the fans to simply remember nearly everyone. In WWE€™s current landscape, there€™s a whole crop of gimmick-less competitors -- some of whom are very talented. However, without a memorable character or even some unique traits, many of today€™s wrestlers will be forgotten over time.
