6. AJ Styles

Whilst it currently seems inevitable that AJ Styles will be going up against John Cena at SummerSlam, there is every chance that WWE could swerve the audience and put the Phenomenal One up against Ambrose for the WWE Championship.

Styles has arguably been WWE's MVP in 2016, and despite coming up short in two attempts to win the title against Roman Reigns he is pretty much embedded as a top level player on SmackDown, and was the highest drafted heel on the blue brand last Tuesday night.

As far as potential match quality goes, there isn't a better option on the table for WWE than a battle between Ambrose and Styles. Of course, it would leave John Cena without an opponent for SummerSlam, but Cena is at that point in his career where he can slot in against young heels in order to give them that big match experience and instant credibility.

If Styles took on Ambrose this would free Cena up to go against someone like Corbin, or even a cross-brand match against an individual such as Braun Strowman or Cesaro.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
