8 Best Wrestlers With The Worst Theme Song Lyrics

5. Edge - 'Metalingus' (Alter Bridge)

Undoubtedly another controversial choice, but I have to be honest: I have no idea why Alter Bridge's lyrics apply to Edge.

The Alter Bridge theme came into existence because Edge met lead guitarist Mark Tremonti at a Metallica show. He loved Metalingus and the band gave him permission to use it as his theme. The rest is history. The inspirational and optimistic lyrics suit Adam Copeland perfectly – a dream coming true, coming back to life etc. But Edge? The ultimate opportunist? Most effective as a top heel? It just seems out of place.

The song is also very of its time. It doesn't feel timeless; a non-wrestling fan could hear this song and place it immediately in the mid-2000s. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but given that Edge's career was sadly cut short due to injury, there seems to be a terrible irony in having a theme that is so stylistically reminiscint of one time period.

This is another case of a song that's great to listen to, but that feels inappropriate for the superstar it's meant to represent.

Stephanie Lim lives in London and has been watching wrestling since she was 4 years old, which is longer ago than she would like to admit. Her favourite wrestler of all time is Shawn Michaels, her favourite current wrestler is Kevin Owens, and she will always regret being too young to push her way through the crowd to shake Bret Hart's hand at a WWE event in 1993.
