8 Best Wrestlers With The Worst Theme Song Lyrics

6. Chyna - 'Who I Am' (Jim Johnston)

Chyna’s theme was actually pretty good, but as with Orton, the opening wasn’t ideal – “don’t treat me like a woman, don’t treat me like a man, don’t treat me like you know me, treat me for just who I am.”

I understand that they're alluding to Chyna being an extraordinary talent: she was one of a kind, and transcended the gender roles we had previously accepted in wrestling

But let’s be clear – Chyna was a woman. A tough woman, an immensely strong woman, a woman who could lay a serious beat down on most men, but she was definitely a woman. And if we’re not meant to treat her like a woman, or a man, or like we know her, but need to treat her for who she is, then how exactly are we meant to treat her?

I may be nit-picking here, but the lyrics seem non-sensical and almost lazy. This song states everything that Chyna is not, but doesn't actually tell us who she is. Yes, she was billed as the Ninth Wonder of the World, and there's some inherent mystery in that. But she deserved a bigger statement of who she was; it's as if no one quite had the words to describe her. That was both the problem with Chyna and the beauty of her as well, and it is all the more poignant after her passing.

Stephanie Lim lives in London and has been watching wrestling since she was 4 years old, which is longer ago than she would like to admit. Her favourite wrestler of all time is Shawn Michaels, her favourite current wrestler is Kevin Owens, and she will always regret being too young to push her way through the crowd to shake Bret Hart's hand at a WWE event in 1993.
