8 Best Wrestlers With The Worst Theme Song Lyrics
2. Nikki Bella - "You Can Look (But You Can't Touch) (Kim Sozzi And Jim Johnston)
I think we’ve got to the point where Nikki Bella’s music is still there because it is, for better or worse, her music, with all the positive fan associations and gravitas that comes with it. Yes, gravitas. This is the theme that Nikki Bella came out to night after night as the longest reigning Divas Champion. This is the theme that signaled her triumphant return at this year’s SummerSlam to a thunderous ovation (let’s ignore the fact she was actually on the heel team). This theme is 100% Bella.
But let’s face it – the song is terrible. It’s embarrassing for a woman as physically strong and clearly resilient as Nikki Bella is to come out to “you can look but you can’t touch". Very appropriate for 2008 Nikki Bella as one half of the Bella twins, but now it’s positively anachronistic.
I can only imagine that Bella has some nostalgic affection for this theme, because the lyrical content of this song cannot be said to fairly represent either her in-ring character or her real-life personality. Given that WWE is placing so much emphasis on women being more than eye-candy, and that Bella herself puts herself out there as an advocate and inspiration for strong, independent women and girls, the old Bella Twins theme is getting more and more tired. Think of the kids guys.
