8 Best Wrestlers With The Worst Theme Song Lyrics
1. Stone Cold – 'Glass Shatters' (Disturbed)
Before the outrage commences, it should be made clear that Stone Cold Steve Austin has the best wrestling theme music of all time. Hands down, no questions asked. The glass shattering, the deliberate, unstoppable beat, the no-nonsense ass-kicking tone - perfection. But that is the original instrumental I Won't Do What You Tell Me by Jim Johnston. The version by Disturbed is a different kettle of fish.
I can see why the WWE thought Disturbed would be a perfect fit for Stone Cold. However, the re-working of his theme just didn’t work. The lyrical content was actually pretty appropriate, talking about how you should step up because you’re the next one in line to kill, I’m going to break the limit inside you etc. But it just did not go with Stone Cold’s character. Stone Cold can run his own mouth, he doesn’t need a heavy metal band telling you the different ways in which he’s going to kick your ass.
Stone Cold also famously makes his entrance stalking down the ramp, cussing and swearing like a bad ass. When Disturbed lyrics were added over his theme music, it looked like he was singing along. And that wasn't cool. In fact, it was weird.
It speaks volumes that the theme Austin uses for his podcast is the original instrumental version. Stone Cold didn't need lyrics, and he didn't need WWE messing with perfection. Judging by his choice of podcast theme, I would say the man himself has made his own preference tacitly clear.
