8 Best WWE Steel Cage Matches Since 2000

6. Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro - New Year's Revolution 2007

The Intercontinental Championship was once again at stake inside a steel cage as Jeff Hardy attempted to successfully retain his title against Johnny Nitro at the first pay-per-view extravaganza of 2007. The two competitors had spent the first four months of Hardy's return to WWE feuding with one another for the secondary title and would clash in the deciding match in their rivalry. With Melina unable to influence the outcome thanks to the cage keeping her at bay, Hardy would finally have the opportunity to rid the pest that was the long-haired, egotistical Nitro from his life once and for all. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x475pp_jeff-hardy-vs-johnny-nitro-new-year_sport With each Superstar proving his creativity on several occasions, it was no surprise that the competitors compiled a plethora of new and unique takes of the most basic of cage match spots. The finish, which saw Nitro crotched atop the cage door, may have been lifted from a previous bout between X-Pac and Chris Jericho but even it had its own twist that made it something fans had never witnessed before. By the end of the match, Hardy and Nitro had set the bar too high for any other Superstar on the New Year's Revolution card to eclipse.
