8 Best WWE Steel Cage Matches Since 2000

5. John Cena vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz - Extreme Rules 2011

Four years after captivating the WWE Universe with an outstanding match against Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship Johnny Nitro, now known as John Morrison, competed in a steel cage match against John Cena and The Miz for the WWE title. It was the headline bout at the 2011 Extreme Rules event and came on the heels of what many considered a lackluster and sub-par WrestleMania 27 pay-per-view. For Morrison, it was an opportunity to prove he belonged in the main event scene. For Cena and The Miz, it was a chance to make up for their awful 'Mania main event, a match so tedious that it was universally panned by fans and critics alike. It was against that backdrop that the marquee match of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view took to the cage. Morrison's unmatched athleticism made for some incredibly complex and entertaining spots while Cena and Miz wrestled a more traditional bout. A mid-match appearance from the recently-turned R-Truth took the popular Morrison out of the equation and left Cena and Miz to settle their differences. A huge Attitude Adjustment from the top rope sealed the win for Cena and ended Miz's reign of terror.
