8 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Survivor Series 2017
1. Authority In The Spotlight
It has been a long time since WWE booked a match as star-studded as this men's elimination bout. Sure, the participants' respective ages (Braun Strowman is the youngest at 34) speaks volumes of WWE's inability to build new stars, but it's full of headliners. Angle, Orton, Cena, Triple H: these are huge names, and the excitement only amplifies when you add likes of Strowman, Nakamura, and Balor to the mix.
The decision to throw the old guard into the mix has paid off. Fans still hunger to see Angle wrestle, Triple H's absence from television means his involvement feels legitimately fresh, and Shane McMahon will definitely do something reckless. There's just one problem, though: they're all authority figures.
This match could be used to push a Nakamura or Strowman towards megastardom, but recent booking patterns suggest WWE will miss this layup, and instead use the bout to highlight staff members.
This would be a colossal mistake, but it's par for the course. The extended McMahon family will always be the strongest pushed people in the company, and Angle has a point to prove after recent Stephanie-induced castrations. Much of the match will likely be built around their interactions when the focus should be on full-time wrestlers, unfortunately.
