8 Biggest Chop Masters In Wrestling History

7. 'Nightmare' Danny Davis

Danny Davis was never someone who could stand-out in a crowd full of wrestlers. Wrestling between 1977 and 1997, primarily in the Tennessee area, Davis stood no higher than 5’9 and weighed no more than 215lbs. In other words, he was very small by wrestling standards, particularly during a period where size and physical stature were far more important than they are today.

To compensate for his small stature, Davis would chop people with absolutely vicious brutality, and the sound he’d make from connecting with his chops would make you think that they were being delivered by a much larger wrestler. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin mentioned one such a confrontation on his podcast.

During a battle royal, Austin ended up in the corner and had to take three knife-edge chops from Danny Davis, and he described them as ‘three gunshots going off in the arena’. As if the sound wasn’t enough, the pain of those three chops was so significant that Austin went back to the locker room, and before David got back, Austin left him a note that read ‘F*** you and your chops!’

Keep in mind that Austin is an incredibly tough wrestler who managed to finish a match and walk back to the dressing room with a broken neck and after suffering temporary paralysis. If someone like him thinks that these chops must’ve hurt, then Davis was undoubtedly a real chop master.
