8 Biggest Disappointments Going Into WrestleMania 31

7. The Tag Team Match Is A Sign Of A Poor Division

WWE has lost faith in the tag team division. Long gone are the glory days of The Dudleys, The Hardy Boys, Edge and Christian and their peers putting on epic matches that brought the house down. These days, tag team matches are largely without consequence, teams are put together and broken up with apparent randomness, and the Tag Team Championship is a placeholder more than anything else. It's depressing, because the talent is there. The Usos are a consistently great tag team, Tyson Kidd and Cesaro are phenomenal performers who work well together, and all three members of The New Day are more than capable in the ring. There's been other great teams too, The Real Americans, The Prime Time Players, The Ascension, The Dust Brothers, The Lucha Dragons, all have proven to be capable of putting on quality matches when given the opportunity. The problem is the lack of attention the division gets. There's no sense of ranking with tag teams, number one contenders seem to be picked out of a hat, and there's no real sense of feuds between teams, they just end up in matches against each other. And by that, they end up in matches against each other nearly every week on Raw and Smackdown, and by the time the PPV rolls around, noones interested in watching it because they've seen it multiple times already. Really, this match would have benefited from having a ladder match stipulation more than the Intercontinental Championship contest. As it stands, this is a disappointing matchup. Not because of the match itself, but as a representation of the division as a whole.
