8 Biggest Jon Jones Controversies

5. Brawl With Daniel Cormier At UFC Media Event

If you know anything about Jon Jones, you've probably heard about his disdain for former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier. Cormier, the Olympian who battled serious adversity in his personal life to reach the top of the UFC despite not debuting in MMA until age 30 has consistently been framed as the protagonistic adversary to Jones in the company.

Jones and Cormier were almost destined to be at odds. At their very first meeting at UFC 121 in October 2010, Cormier took exception to Jones claiming he would be able to take the All-American wrestler down.

The beef continued in the years that followed but didn't truly ignite until Cormier dropped down to light heavyweight in 2014 and set his sights on Jones' title. Cormier immediately rose to the top of the 205lbs ranks and the two were set to face off at UFC 181.

At a media day for UFC 178, Jones and Cormier squared off for the journalists and fans in attendance. The pair got a little too close for comfort and seconds later a brawl broke out knocking UFC employee and Jon Anik lookalike Dave Sholler off the stage. Jones would later be given a $50,000 fine and community service for his role in the melee.
