8 Biggest Jon Jones Controversies
4. Being Pulled From UFC 200
UFC 200 was supposed to be the crown jewel of the UFC's event schedule in 2016. Originally, the card was slated to be headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz though this was nixed when McGregor announced his short-lived retirement from the sport.
Undeterred, Dana White sought to book another monumental rematch and announced that Jones and Cormier would meet once again with the UFC Light Heavyweight Title on the line.
In the years since their first fight, Cormier had capitalised on Jones' time away from the sport by cementing himself as the king at 205lbs. Jones spoke about his determination to reclaim his crown and the fight world looked on in anticipation for what was sure to be another classic battle.
But it wasn't to be.
Just days before the landmark event was set to take place, Dana White announced that Jones had been pulled from the event for failing an out of competition drug test. UFC cameras captured the moment DC found out he would not get the opportunity to exact his revenge, and the sight of a teary-eyed Cormier stating that he was willing to sign a waiver to fight Jones despite the failed test has since gone into MMA folklore.
