8 Biggest Problems Facing NXT Right Now

7. A Relatively Light Women's Division

One of the true positives to happen in World Wrestling Entertainment in the last year or so has been the improved positioning and presentation of its female competitors. The Divas Division is no more, and the god-awful butterfly belt has followed it to the wayside.

All of this started in NXT, originally with Paige and Emma before the Four Horsewomen (Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch) took it to the next level. Three of those four went up to the main roster, leaving Bayley behind. Bayley's run as champion was a lot of fun, but now that Asuka has the belt one expects the former champion to join her Horsewomen counterparts in a rejuvenated main roster divison.

Asuka is the right choice as champion, but who is there to challenge her? Outside of the champ, it all looks a little weak. You've got Nia Jaxx, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Dana Brooke, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. Of those, arguably only Jaxx stands out as a credible challenge for the woman previously known as Kana.

Where does NXT go from here? The rebuilding and marshalling of the women's division through this period of transition will be tricky to say the least.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
