While Goldberg should definitely be kept away from the gold upon returning to WWE, it makes sense for him to enter a feud with one of the company’s current champions. US Title-holder Kevin Owens has genuine beef with Goldberg after Chris Jericho screwed him out of the Universal strap at Fastlane back in March, and this forms the perfect basis for Bill’s comeback feud.

There’ll be temptation to pit Goldberg against an established megastar like John Cena or Randy Orton, but neither man would gain anything from working with him. Instead, WWE should use Goldberg’s popularity to prime a younger wrestler to succeed the company’s veteran superstars, and KO is the ideal candidate.

Owens is one of SmackDown’s most skilled performers, but WWE haven’t been able to build him up as a megastar. Working with Goldberg would give him a tremendous rub, and while it’d be a stretch to suggest he’d become as big a star as the former WCW Champion, he should at least emerge from the feud stronger than when he’d entered. Just make sure he loses the US Title beforehand, otherwise we’re going to have problems...
