8 Booking Steps For Kenny Omega As IMPACT World Champion

4. A Near Time Limit Draw

As far as the actual match between Kenny Omega and Eddie Edward goes, going all the way to just before the time limit makes sense.

Omega and Rich Swann's clash from Rebellion lasted around 23 minutes, and as outstanding a match that was, there wasn't an aura of 'could he do it?'. Omega's win was locked in from the moment he arrived in IMPACT. That Swann had very little offence in the last minute or so of the match didn't help matters.

Omega and Edwards' Slammiversary clash, however, has to reach at least the last three seconds of the time limit. Both guys are skilled enough to achieve this without accidentally going over their allotted time that it should work.

Kenny is, without needing to say it, one of the world's best at telling a convincing story in-ring. The narrative told in the Swann bout was great; this needs to be a step up. In the last few minutes, Eddie has to connect with at least one Boston Knee Party for an extremely close near-fall, as well as a few rollups.

That's how you leave the viewer on the edge of their seat. Fans will be invested either way, but if they're led to think there's a chance of Eddie winning, it'll draw more interest during the match itself.
