8 Burning Questions For WWE Backlash 2016

6. Is Ziggler Irrelevant?

It might feel strange to write this as Dolph Ziggler prepares to battle for the Intercontinental Championship, one month after competing for the WWE World Championship. But that is exactly the point.

Ziggler looked like he was on the ascent back in November 2014 when he eliminated three members of Team Authority at Survivor Series, sending the bad guys packing (for all of five weeks). One might think he’d get a big push out of that, but since the beginning of 2015, Ziggler has won 64 of 127 televised matches, or almost 50%. He floundered for months this year until the feud with WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose lit a fire that burned through his promos.

So the question here is simple: Is Ziggler irrelevant? If he loses to Miz for the IC title and moves on to something else, then the answer is easy. If he wins and carries the title with pride, then maybe not. Or could this match be a catalyst for something new with his character? It will be interesting to see if we see something – anything – moving Dolph forward.
