8 Comedy Wrestlers Who Were Legitimate Tough Guys
1. Santino Marella
Santino Marella has had something of a monopoly on comedy in World Wrestling Entertainment over the last few years. Well, he did until he was released anyway. When we think of our favourite Santino Marella moments we think of tea parties, of mispronunciations, of the Honk-O-Meter. Heck, some may even think of him on top of Beth Phoenix's shoulders, I don't know.
It is fairly well-known, but the man behind the gimmick was anything but a bumbling pushover. The guy has been practicing judo for the majority of his existence, meaning he is going to be pretty darn good at judo by now. He also competed minimally in Mixed Martial Arts, fighting seven times and only coming up a cropper on one occasion.
Before making the jump to the main roster, Santino Marella was Boris Alexiev, a Russian shoot fighter, even winning a match in just 10 seconds once. As Baron Corbin will tell you, 10 seconds is not a very long time at all.
He'll be remembered for having a snake sock on his arm, but underneath that sock lay the hands of a man who could trip you up real good.
