WWE has always had problems with race. This goes all the way back from The Golden Generation's racial stereotyping of 'The Million Dollar Man' having a black servant, to characters like Muhammad Hussan and Cryme Time playing on racist stereotypes. This is without remembering Papa Shango, Tatanka, and all of the names you are currently thinking of while reading this, and it arguably continues all the way into the modern era, with today's booking of black superstars continuing to be incredibly suspect.

Even with all of these lamentable situations and characters, nothing crossed the line quite like Vince McMahon gleefully dropping the N word on live television. On the road to Survivor Series 2005, McMahon pathetically babbles his way through street slang before going entirely too far, dropping the long-extinguished racial slur to John Cena.

As a culture, wrestling fans fight against the stereotype that only the lowest common denominator of right-wing Americans love this art form. Moments like this were not detrimental to just Vince and his own company, it was a stain on us all that this was deemed acceptable as recently as 2005.
