It is and always will be a complex relationship between pro wrestling fans and Hulk Hogan. Hogan's well-documented racism and avalanche of falsehoods have counteracted his superhero status over the years, and WWE had fair warning of that fact. Hogan had been booed on several occasions before this moment, but on January 6th 2025, the WWE Universe let their feelings known at deafening volume.

No matter your view of Hogan's actions, watching him attempt to get his schtick over on WWE's first night on Netflix is one of the most awkward, toe-curling moments in recent WWE history. No matter how many catchphrases he tried to get over, the boos rained down incessantly. Hulk ripped his shirt open, while the crowd tore him a new one in merciless fashion. The sight of Jimmy Hart behind 'The Hulkster', waving an American flag to further fan the flames of discontent, felt like adding a wet fart on top of the poop sandwich being served.

Hulk Hogan's passing may have calmed people's discomfort at his actions in the last quarter of his life, but this appearance summarized the awkward legacy that he left behind.
