8 Craziest Stories Told On The Joe Rogan Experience

1. Nick Yarris' Lost Years In Prison - #1171

Most people would consider themselves unlucky if they lost their keys or their flight was delayed.

For Nick Yarris however, bad luck doesn't even begin to describe the enormity of the circumstances he suffered through that led to his appearance on the JRE in 2018.

After being incarcerated for stealing a car, Yaris falsely told police that he knew the culprit in an unresolved murder case in an attempt to earn his freedom. However, after the police found out Yarris had lied, they pinned the charges on him, leading to Yarris being placed on death row for the murder of a woman he had never even met.

Yarris tells Joe about the of constant abuse he would suffer in prison in the years that followed, explaining that all the while he was buoyed by the hope that DNA evidence would eventually be able to prove his innocence.

After 22 years in prison, Yarris was finally exonerated in 2003, after DNA technology proved that he was not involved in the murder leading to his release from prison.

It's actually difficult to listen to the experiences Yarris suffered through as an innocent man at times, but his positive demeanour is a testament to the fortitude he developed throughout his ordeal. When it comes to a crazy life story, few people on earth could suffer the severity in malfeasance that Nick Yarris was subjected to and still come out the other side as articulate and engaging as he is.
