8 Desperately Weird Vince McMahon Promotional Tactics

2. In Your House

Believe it or now, WWE used to promote only a few three hour pay-per-views every year. But Vince wanted to increase that revenue stream, so he decided to add a few more shows to the calendar. Knowing that making fans pay full price every month was a lot to ask for, we were given two hours shows instead of three, along with a lower price tag, and less exciting matches.

To get people interesting in these new shows entitled "In Your House", Vince thought it would be a good promotion to give away a freaking house! One random person who ordered the pay-per-view would win said house, and they were called live on-air by Todd Pettengill. That winner? An 11-year-old kid.

Since kids probably shouldn’t own homes in the state they don’t live in, his family sold it and made $175,000. And despite the events still being called In Your House, another house was never given away.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
