At WCPW’s first pay-per-view, Built To Destroy 2016, the British promotion crowned its first world champion. Adam Blampied accompanied the ruthless Rampage while Jack the Jobber was represented by the heroic Damo. Fans expected a brutal battle between the beasts, but they didn’t see the impending swerve.

In the final minutes, Blampied grew frustrated with Rampage’s inability to slay the monster, so he ordered his charge to hit a piledriver. The move was banned, so Rampage would be disqualifying himself and forfeiting the title. He disobeyed Blampied, who came into the ring and scolded him. Rampage took him out with a clothesline. As the ref checked on Blampied, Damo low blowed Rampage and hit a piledriver for the victory.

It was a brazen strategy for the promotion’s inaugural PPV, but it was worth the risk.
